a team like the Avs could easily do it. got the cap space, adding Marner would surely make them playoffs staples for the next 4 years to drive down the value of their 1sts.

They would just need to figure out goaltending. Grubauer played decent but I don't know if he's capable of winning a cup (as a starter). Goaltending is so fucking important, need a hot goalie like Matt Murray and Binnington, or a top guy

some pretty good FA goalies that could easily be solved with enough $$ thrown at it

The leafs will just throw money at another rfa as they’ll have plenty of picks to sacrifice

It's cool to think about, but it's overblown and nothing is going to happen. Toronto is going to weaken their team to make the space, every other team is going to sign their guy. Guy like Aho, Rantanen, Laine, all those guys are safe. If it does happen it will be on a mid tier player at most

Then Sens will trade Ceci to Vancouver and all will be right with the world

everybody keeps talking about marner but there are lots of good players that wont cost 4 1sts to offersheet and can improve a team big time

that's the most likely outcome. bet Dubas' first choice is to trade away Nylander, but thing is that if he waits too long then everyone else will spend up during UFA and he'll have very few (if any) trade partners. he has to act before July 1st if that's his choice, or he'll risk trading players like Kadri or Muzzin who won't clear as much cap space and might still impede his ability to sign other players to fill the roster.

There would always be trade partners, he would lose value on his guys is more likely. Selling players low
