it has to do with not having to go through arbitration if they cant get something done right away they are confident they can sign him without it


or something like that.. idk seems weird but yeah hes a UFA he wasnt qualified he can test free agency if he wants


i dont think the player has to accept a QO its to keep their rights so idk if they can decline it thats when arbitration comes in for how much they get if they cant agree on a contract

I think Dubas has been exposed as a weak negotiator. Nylander got everything he wanted, and he’s the 4th or 5th best player on the leafs. Marner’s gonna eat well.

Yup. Everyone else got paid top value so why should he take anything less than the maximum.
