BREAKING: The 76ers dismissed coach Doc Rivers on Tuesday, sources tell ESPN. Rivers led the Sixers to the Eastern Conference Semifinals in each of his three seasons on the job.

The Sixers’ search for a new coach is expected to include Mike Budenholzer, Sam Cassell, Mike D’Antoni, Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel and Monty Williams, sources tell ESPN.

Good riddance

It was a terrible hire to begin with. This group can't hire coaching. Also why the fuck is Mike D'Antoni's named listed? Pls fucking no.

Joel Embiid averaged 33.1 points per game in the regular season and 23.7 in the postseason. Among players who averaged 30 or more points during the regular season and advanced to the playoffs that year only one player had a higher drop-off in his scoring average.

Worst 10:

Wilt Chamberlain -15.4 (1961-62)
Joel Embiid -9.4 (2022-23)
Giannis Antetokounmpo -7.8 (2022-23)
Kobe Bryant -7.5 (2005-06)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar -7.4 (1972-73)
Moses Malone -7.1 (1981-82)
Joel Embiid -7 (2021-22)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar -6.1 (1971-72)
Karl Malone -5.8 (1989-90)
Oscar Robertson -5.7 (1966-67)

Hmmm… does this remind you of something I was going back & forth with you about a lil while ago maybe? Lmfao

Don’t agree with the decision

First off, he lost to a better team that has been favored to win it all since day 1

Yes, he blew a 3-2 lead again, but this time it was on the players

He destroyed Mazulla so bad, that it forced the players to take over

Nothing a coach can do when his MVP and 2nd best player become ghosts from 4th Q game 6 through game 7

Coaching change could help but Doc did a fine job in this series

Doc's offensive game plan in crunch time was awful.

He also doesn't create ANY movement in his offense. Cutting doesn't exist.

Doc came up short for the past couple of seasons. No doubt. But this year, your 2 best players were no shows in the 2 most important games.
James Harden was a no show in back to back games to close the series. Literally,
Yeah, Embiid had an ok performance in game 6, but the man was “riding the bus” when it mattered. It’s not hard for a big man to post up and say “give me the ball”. The Celtics didn’t even deny him the ball in the entire series……They ALWAYS let him start 1v1. Whether it was Smart or Horford, there is no excuse for him to not even touch the ball. That wasn’t on Doc.
Let’s not even discuss game 7 because no coach is winning when your best player is PJ Tucker for 6 minutes.
It doesn’t matter who you bring in if you guys keep a washed James Harden, who had to go to Vegas strip clubs mid series  …paying 40 mil to Tobias to play 4th option is just sad too…
If this means Harden is also out, then maybe there is some hope.
