Too much to respond to but I'll try
1. I didn't mean only USA people are brainwashed, in fact almost anyone who only listens to their own country's biased media is brainwashed to some degree.
2. Not gonna lie, was drunk posting the OP (2 am here) but still stand by most of what I said, def had a lil rage tho my bad
3. Perhaps most importantly: I didn't mean to comment or defend any Chinese policy. We got sidetracked in a shit flinging contest. Instead, my points are:
A. HK is part of China USA should mind their business and stop being world police
B. USA has anti-China media and I seriously promise you that what you think you know about China is not accurate unless you've spent some time here
C. Nearly every person I've met in China (along with other expats or nomads I've met abroad) will attest to the fact that they have changed so much after living outside of their home country. Anyone who stays in one place is inevitably sheltered to some degree. I guarantee if you spend some time outside the USA your thought process will change.
In conclusion, although the way China does things is different from USA (sometimes the countries will disagree on what's right) one almost irrefutable fact is that China's way of doing things is growing and the American way of doing things is diminishing. Also, America is moving closer towards China's way of doing things (not the other way arouond) with it's growing acceptance of Socialist policies and increased internet censorship for example about racism or hate speech. In my opinion, the USA is just really far behind and what you think it's taking your FREEBIRD err, freedom is actually just progress for the greater good in the same way tax reform and gun control are steps in the right direction.
