I mean you yourself are not entertaining any notion that your perspective is biased, incomplete, or mistaken. You immediately dispel any criticism as a result of the critic being brainwashed and uninformed.
If you were trying to start a discussion, then you went about it the wrong way. When a speaker walls themselves off from opposing viewpoints and remains rooted in their own biases and beliefs, then they're only going to elicit similar attitudes and responses in turn. Rather, the speaker should be open to other viewpoints and discuss issues rather than attack the critic's character, which makes anything they have to say invalid before they even say it.
Essentially what you're trying to do here is have a one-sided discussion in which you act as the sole arbiter of truth and dispenser of information while everyone else listens passively as an empty vessel to be filled with information, which is much less of a discussion and more of a lecture.
Yeah touche, you're right I didn't go about it the right way.
Honestly, just think it's close-minded for those Americans who judge but don't actually understand the situation. Also, not talking to you here, but to others, not sure how many times I need to say this, but I never said Chinese media was 100% unbiased of course every media outlet has their own agenda, that's why I try to read both sides and have an informed opinion. I read Chinese news, both conservative and liberal American news, other international news sources, etc.
Also, I live in China and see people spouting the same recycled criticisms about China but they have never been here only believe the one-sided stuff they've read. BTW... I also call-out my Chinese friends when they unfairly judge the USA.
However, although again I was venting frustrating and both getting worked up by trolls and also trolling a bit myself, I admit the issue is complicated and I'm also not 100% without bias nor 100% informed.
However, again the bottom-line is that no matter how you feel, HK is part of China and I think Americans should stay out of China's business and focus on the problems at home. I'm not sure why the USA feels it needs to be the international police force, and for every person they try to "help" seems like they hurt 10 people in the process.
