Maybe in the 2020's you guys will actually have a winning season.

Plenty of drinking to catch up till then.

Anyways 2019 Mets will actually be somewhat better than this years team, which isn't saying shit.

You can make the argument that he should be NL MVP...

deGrom is the only pitcher in MLB HISTORY to have over 260 strikeouts, 50 or fewer walks, and less than 10 homers allowed, and an ERA under 2.00. His 10.3 WAR leads the MLB, and the last player to league the majors with over 10.00, and not win MVP was Dwight Gooden in 1985, which was arguably one of his most dominant seasons to date.

He should win NL MVP/CY Young...

yellich should win mvp degrom cy young

If deGrom actually had run support, these dumbasses wouldn't look at deGrom's W/L as a indicator of his talent/skill...

He's the only pitcher since Gooden/Martinez to have over 200+ strikeouts, and over 10 WAR...

That's historical...

What is Yelich is doing is great, don't get me wrong, he definitely deserves it. But if deGrom even had at least 6-7 extra wins, this probably would've been a close debate.

The hiring of Brodie should bode well for Mets. He's an elite upperclassmen agent that is well respected from every other agent and couple GM's around the league. It'll help bolster more opportunities and key developments for trades.

Fuck... I really dont like the Cano and Diaz trade..

If Kelenic, McNeil, or Dunn gets traded all together I'll be very upset..

We should keep Kelenic.. I'm okay with McNeil and Dunn.. just no Kelenic!!

The #Mets stand to save around $8.5M of payroll w/ the proposed trade (assuming 1/2 of Cano is paid by the #Mariners).

NYM
2B R. Cano: $12M
RP E. Diaz: $1M (est)

SEA
OF J. Bruce: $13M
RP A. Swarzak: $8M
P G. Bautistia: $555k (est)
OF Jarred Kelenic: Minors
P Justin Dunn, Minors

If the Mariners eat half the cost, it isn't as bad, Diaz is one of the best closers in baseball, but fuck man... Ugh.

I can't believe their giving up Kelenic, Dunn, and Bautistia.. The fuck.. Then they might trade one of our SP's for prospects? Well no shit, because you gave up half of our farm system -_-.

Update, 10:08 AM: According to Andy Martino, the Mets will be receiving approximately $60 million in the current incarnation of the deal. This would roughly cover half of Cano’s owed salary over the next five seasons, not to mention the aforementioned Bruce and Swarzak contracts.

The signing of Ramos is perfect.

Our bullpen is just missing a LOOGY, after that, I have to say our BP is probably the best in the NL, and honestly in all of baseball.

A BP of Gsellman, Lugo, Zamora, Diaz, and Familia is pretty dominant.

For me as a Met fan, I know not to get too cocky with my team. Thats definitely rule #1 always.
Van Wagenen is trying to make this team as good as it can get and be up there with the big dogs of baseball. Can't blame him for making deals and making this team better than it already was.

Honestly, you can say that but its whatever. We've done other boneheaded things 20,000 times worse than anything like this.
New GM trying to make the team better any way he can. I don't blame him. Everything starts with pitching.
Jacob deGrom proved that by winning the Cy Young. Build off pitching and small ball by scoring runs and manufacturing runs like the red sox did.
They proved that anyone can do it.

That's actually not a terrible trade anymore... Diaz is the best closer and only 24. To get a player like him, you'd probably give up Kelenic and even Giminez or Alonso along with a mid tier prospect.

Eating Cano's contract, who should end up servicable for 2-3 years with at least 1.5-2.0 WAR, isn't that bad. Plus he loves NY, shines the brightest, and we're building around our pitching.

Everyone on MMO keeps screaming, "Sign Harper." But let's be real.. Lol.
