wut?

pointing out the fact that our manager is an idiot =/= giving up on the team

jake arrieta seems to think the same and the phillies are the worst shift team in baseball

Pointing out flaws in someone doesn't mean you quit on them. Gabe has improved, but still has a long ways to go. Historically, that had to have been one of the worst starts to a managers career in any sport.

As far as our hitting can someone fucking hit the ball! Thanks :)

BUMP again for the Arrieta doubters... 😉

0.90 ERA in 5 starts in May.

Oh, and your boy just helped his own cause and hit a bomb out of the park himself since the Phillies offense had gone 22 straight innings without a run lmao.

Since this post, Arrieta has given up 30 runs (21 earned) in 30.2 IP (8.8 RA / 6.16 ERA) , allowed a triple slash of .295/.355/.500 and has a WHIP of 1.50.

Worth every penny.

At least they didn’t sign Alex Cobb or lance lynn

Could be worse.

Phillies reached 50 wins yesterday.....July 9th

To put that into perspective, they didn't reach 50 wins until August 31st last season.

And people wonder why this team was regarded as a "dark horse" playoff contender? ;)

While being tied for first in July is a great surprise I just don't see how they can keep this up without some big moves at the trade deadline. Their offense is mediocre at best, and I don't see their starting pitching lasting with carrying this team. Bullpen is still a huge question mark as well. But the numbers do suggest that somehow they're going to make the playoffs per past teams with this record at this time of the year.
