really, they build up this big bad Demon Lord, and then there is a whole 5 second mention of: by the way, Demon Lord is defeated... and nobody seems to give many shits

the show wasn't about the Hero party or the demon lord, so there was no need to focus on it outside just some imagery and mention. (there really wasn't any build up for it at all either)
the show is about Goblin Slayer after all.

yeah the show made a promising start of maybe being a bit different and turned out into pretty generic fantasy
then there was the chance that something big would occur with the rise of the Demon Lord that even Goblin Slayer would have to get involved - nah he just sort of got defeated and nothing has changed for our protagonist
I hoped for someting new, instead I got the rather uninspired same old same old, hence the disappointment

but the whole hero x demon lord plot is WAY! more generic than the plot it's currently on.
in fact Goblin Slayer goes it's own route with a character type that isn't some generic hero and is a bit unique.

that's why i find the series interesting in the first place, it's not some generic fantasy adventure where the hero rises up and kills the demon lord
It's about an everyday adventurer who's mentally scarred by his sisters death, lacking people skills and emotions with an obsession that'll kill him eventually because he's doesn't care much about himself.
then there's those around him that do care and try to change him bit by bit.

so i don't really understand how going that route would have been better or less genric.

Big baddie shows up and MC is forced into the fray, proves his worth, climbs to platinum, defeats the Demon Lord and gains world wide acclaim would be the same generic story we've heard a billion times over. Eventually the what behind the goblins will be revealed and you'll have your Demon Lord type of antagonist, but there way of refusing to follow the main story line reminds me soooooo fucking much of how me and my friends played D&D when we were kids. Whenever a DM tried to force a story-line or a major antagonist, we'd always just go do w/e the fuck we wanted and ignore him.

I still have concerns about this show, like I do most shows this early in, but I'm enjoying the direction this is headed and I don't see how anyone could be upset about a villain we never saw nor cared about dying. What does it matter? If you really want to get into it, there's no way of confirming that the Demon Lord being dead is legitimate either. Whole thing could have been a way for the Demon Lord or one of his flunkies to infiltrate the highest level of heroes lol. I'm guessing he's dead since it doesn't matter, but again, it doesn't matter and it doesn't mean there won't be an actually important antagonist down the road at some point.
