I basically just picked high quality images I liked, printed them at home on professional grade photo paper, and put them in $2 frames
The ink cost was probably $100-120, frames around $80, paper $20, already had a printer at home that rarely ever got used, so I put it to work
The frames are cheap, but they are exactly the style I was thinking of. The front cover is glass, and it has has a minimal thin edge.
More than 40 frames, but some frames were in bulk packs which gave a slight discount
Forget exact ink cost but that sounds about right, rather have genuine brand ink than off brand cheaper alternatives
There is much cheaper photo paper but I figured I would get high quality paper that would last
There were a handful of failed prints before I got the printer set up right for high quality prints with full bleed

I wanna say it's an HP OfficeJet, 6XXX? series, nothing fancy - probably in the $100-150 range now, might even be able to get a better printer for that range
It's an inkjet, and knowing the type of printer you have determines what type of paper you print on
You want to reduce the print speed from the default fast to the slowest setting, and quality from default to the best option available
This uses more ink and will cost more per print, resulting in less prints per ink cartridge, but the quality of the print is much nicer
Set the print options to full bleed all the way to the edges if your printer allows it, glad that mine did
The frames were also from Walmart, mainstay 8.5x11 document format picture frame
The 3 packs are the cheapest option, but the single packs (when bought in person) are more reliable
All of my damaged frames (chipped glass or broken plastic edges) were all from multi packs
They also offer multiple different sizes with the same style frame, but 8.5x11 seemed like a good size to me personally, standard paper size

Another option is to send the images to a printing company and hope they just print the pictures without questioning you, might be cheaper if you only want a few
Printing your own is a great opportunity if you want a bunch, with freedom to print whatever you want, and the ability to control the quality yourself
And then you get to enjoy the fun of looking like a crazy person buying all the 8.5x11 frames from the multiple stores around you

thank you very much for the detailed write up! now i really have to do it :D
i have a run of the mill canon printer (top one on amazon, i just bought it so i have one for emergencies but i dont really need it) so it should work just fine if i get backup ink and good quality photopaper
here in germany the frames are probably a little more expensive but since i dont need as many im fine with spending like 5-10€ each if they look good

letting someone else print is an option too, there are lots of services on the internet for that. i had a poster printed before from one of those internet services and it looked pretty decent.
no way however im going to a physical store and let someone print it there, maybe with hat+sunglasses+mask  probably not gonna print anyone in revealing clothing but i might end up
wanting to print out some lolis and i dont need anyone knowing that

Now have 10 preorders in place... at least 6 of them are popup parade, all of them combined is actually cheaper than 1 of the others
