If D&D had known that they couldn't pump out quality, I can understand their refusal to cut it down. They are also fans themselves, they can tell the difference between good and bad.
In retrospect, we will look back at GoT as a show that was mostly great and then started to slip in its 7&8ths seasons (which is actually quite typical of shows) rather than a show that dragged out until people lost interest (Walking Dead)
i have my issues as well with seasons 7 and 8, but the shitstorm has become ridiculous
you cant please everyone and yeah the writing should have been better
its still top class entertainment and a show people will watch in 10 years
