Realy? I thought it was pretty tame in that departement. Schindlers List, Grave of the Fireflies, The Pianist, Life is beautiful, Under sandet, Paths of Glory, All Quiet on the Western Front, Come and See, etc. are way more effective in my opinion.
But I liked Dunkirk as well, it was intense all the way through and beautifully shot.
Some of those films deal more with the horrors of war crimes but not war itself. Being in the military it is pretty intense seeing what war is capable of and how fucked world war two was. Regardless of why they joined or what they did I will always respect a WW2 veteran. Like 400,000 men were trapped on a beach surrounded by enemy forces. The scenes with the planes attacking them is honestly the most nerve-wracking thing I've ever witnessed in a war movie. It was like looking death in the eyes and knowing you couldn't do anything to stop it.
I also think it was one of the most accurate war films ever created.
Those are great movies too though.
