This is an opinion based thread.

For example, you think King Arthur is one of the best movies of 2017. You probably are the only person in the entire world that thinks that but it's ok it is your opinion.

I still have to watch a few movies before I can judge this accurately.

I've been meaning to watch three billboards. Is it really that good? Is it a documentary or a film based on true events?

It’s a dark comedy and it’s awesome. Top 3 2017 for sure

as far as I know it s an original screenplay. Check it out, it's great, maybe even Oscar material.

The small description I read made it sound like a documentary, and I'm a true crime fan but it was kind of on the bottom of my list. Maybe I'll watch it sooner rather than later then.

Finally watched Dunkirk. It may be the best war movie I have ever watched. I love how it had a realistic approach and it didn't feel like a Call of Duty campaign like Saving Private Ryan did. I have never seen a war movie portray the horror of war more accurately than Nolan did in Dunkirk. I honestly felt like it was scarier than any horror movie I've ever watched.

Nolan made an absolute masterpiece. Everything from the screenplay to the musical score was amazing. I think it is his best film easily and I'm a huge fan of his prior works. After watching Dunkirk I would put him up there with Scorsese in terms of how fucking brilliant he is. Some may not agree with me but I consider Scorsese the best director of the past 30 years so this is high praise putting Nolan in the same tier as him.

So far it is easily leading for me in best film of 2017 but I still have a few to watch.

Realy? I thought it was pretty tame in that departement. Schindlers List, Grave of the Fireflies, The Pianist, Life is beautiful, Under sandet, Paths of Glory, All Quiet on the Western Front, Come and See, etc. are way more effective in my opinion.

But I liked Dunkirk as well, it was intense all the way through and beautifully shot.

Some of those films deal more with the horrors of war crimes but not war itself. Being in the military it is pretty intense seeing what war is capable of and how fucked world war two was. Regardless of why they joined or what they did I will always respect a WW2 veteran. Like 400,000 men were trapped on a beach surrounded by enemy forces. The scenes with the planes attacking them is honestly the most nerve-wracking thing I've ever witnessed in a war movie. It was like looking death in the eyes and knowing you couldn't do anything to stop it.

I also think it was one of the most accurate war films ever created.

Those are great movies too though.
