I found it a bit overhyped. I think the vast majority of people are hyping it purely on the ‘shock and awe factor’. But I’ve seen way worse movies, so to me this was mild.
But that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. Some what predictable, some of the games were weird.
I understand the idea of rich assholes starting the ‘games’ for their own amusement. But what about the hundreds of employees? The circle, triangle, squares, down to the slapping man ….. how could all these years they were able to keep it all a secret ?
My guess is when they're recruited by the slapping dude, the victim chooses their fate by the color of red or blue they choose. Red are the employees and blue are the gamers. They were able to keep it a secret because the cops nor anyone wouldn't believe these desperate people. When the gamers votes to opt out after the 1st game, and went back to their lives, he tried to reveal the secret to the police but he only sounded dumb and silly.
The slapping dude probably worked his way up or is also a rich fuck that agrees with the old man's views. Much like the front man (the cops bro) etc. Perhaps they're winners of previous games in the past and agrees with the old man and believes others like them deserves a second chance like they did. Although the current winner of the recent game didn't agree.
Maybe in season 2 they'll explain a bit more on the employee side. Circles seem like theyre the most junior and do the grunt work, triangle are security, square manages etc. Maybe they have some sort of games among them as well to move up in rank or something.
