You sound like the flat earthers who say “that’s your opinion, I have mine” after someone tells them that the earth is round

We're mostly in agreement that it was a good-great movie, which is fantastic, but when the writer, director and everyone involved have been as blunt as possible in telling their audience that this film has zero ties to the previous Batman movies (Burton, Nolan or the travesties), there isn't room for debate about whether or not this is the origin story for Ledger's joker. It's a fact that it isn't, hence myself and others telling you that this isn't a matter of opinion discussion.

You're entitled to believe whatever you want to believe man, but believing a lie doesn't make it an opinion, hence the flat earther comparison by Flameyes.

I loved this movie
Watching the jokers decent into madness was all the more sweeter.
This is the origin story the fans have deserved

And it explains ledgers joker after knowing what made him so dark

9/10 aswell

That scene where his coworkers come and visit him and Gary the midget can't reach the fucking chain lock had me dying. It was a fairly empty theater, but it was like me and two girls on the other side of the theater dying while no one else was really laughing. Little bit awkward, but that shit slayed me.

Same here
Fuck I was laughing so hard[/QUOTE]

This has nothing To do with anything I said.
I said this joker movie was a great origin movie, one we the fans deserved to see over the other dc WB garbage
Then I went on to say that watching this, that it makes more sense to me why joker would be so mad(insane) not care about money and how angled that character is towards the Wayne family.

You said "it explains ledger's joker after knowing what made him so dark."

It doesn't, because the characters are not connected. That's all that myself and others were pointing out to you, but then we went down this weird rabbit hole.

E: As I said before, if it was an honest mistake I get it, we all say shit accidentally, or get mixed up from time to time, but doubling down on something that's false is never a good way to go.

We gotta be honest on this
Every actor has given something remarkable to this character.
Nicholson was a great mafia joker
Ledger nailed every aspect
Phoenix gave him a darker more realistic look
And well Leto did an incredible job at the worst joker ever

And yeah I said to me it makes sense why the joker would be such a madman.
They may not be a connected character but the concept remains.
The joker is a madman. This helped me see how the joker could be so crazy.
We never saw an origin until now.

Not in theaters, no, but the Killing Joke follows a character of the same name (Arthur) with some similarities. DC has always done a good job of keeping his backstory as vague as possible. This was a great look at one possiblity and it could work as an origin story for a more realistic joker, but the insanely over-the-top and brilliant ones like Ledger/Mark Hamil, are best left to the imagination of the viewers imo.

Part of what made Ledger/Nolan's joker so perfect was how he made up different origin stories on the spot to fuck with people. His enigmatic and chaos incarnate approach was as close to perfection as we'll ever see and a backstory would only detract from that. That's just my personal opinion on that, I'm sure loads of people would kill for the chance to get a real backstory on Ledger's joker, it's just not for me though.

I think Joaquin might be up for a sequel. As usual there is speculation all over the net. It’s something that I would watch but probably best if they didn’t make another joker movie. That director may change his mind. What does jsp think?
