idk if theres a spoiler tag here, tried to find it but coulnd't so big spoilers ahead I have a quick question;;

so the whole idea of the "bad guys" is that if you take off your mask, talk without permission or leave your room without permission, you are killed -- but how do you think the circles/squares&triangles reacted when they saw that the frontman took of his mask when he was about to kill his brother
just something i thought of, probably those rules do not apply to the aforementioned "frontman" but it's just a speculation. anyway his brother probably did not die. season 2 hype less go

finished this.

the acting from the rich VIP's was so bad

It was a pretty exciting show, somewhat predictable at times, but it did a great job keeping me engaged

Thought it was severely overhyped imo. I'm guessing the people who thought the series was amazing are also the people who haven't seen a series with this concept before. As someone mentioned earlier, if you haven't seen Alice In Borderland yet, go watch that. I personally thought AIB did it a lot better and it was more entertaining

I agree with the VIP bad acting, however I think that was intentional. They were over-acting & extremely cheesey, compared to the incredibly nuanced performances from the main characters in the show. I also think it was the Koreans Hollywood version of a stereotypical, wealthy & arrogant American businessman

It could be their intention, but having looked at the VIP’s acting backgrounds I doubt they could do much of a better performance lol. These are probably the roles/niche they play in all their roles in Korea. I bet they love it though lol!

I found it a bit overhyped. I think the vast majority of people are hyping it purely on the ‘shock and awe factor’. But I’ve seen way worse movies, so to me this was mild.

But that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. Some what predictable, some of the games were weird.

I understand the idea of rich assholes starting the ‘games’ for their own amusement. But what about the hundreds of employees? The circle, triangle, squares, down to the slapping man ….. how could all these years they were able to keep it all a secret ?

I binged watched it in like 2 days & really enjoyed it. You have to watch the sub’d version though, the dub’d is awful lol. I thought it was overall done pretty damn well, & was a very entertaining & at times intense watch.

I wouldn’t put it in the top tier of shows like, for example The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, True Detective (S1), however I’d put it in the tier right below that

agreed

the wire sopranos breaking bad true detective etc those S+ tier tv shows

Squid game would be an A-A+

S+
S
A+
A
B
C
D

S+ basicly 94-100%
S-88-94%
A+82-88%
A 76-82%
B 68-76%
C 60-68%
D45-60%

Not going to lie, I watched it. It was interesting. I don’t understand why it’s so hyped. Like is it number 1 show of Netflix of all time? I think not.
