I didn't see the movie and probably never will. But if it was the villians' plan to control the non-black people, I assume it was the protagonists part to stop him/her, right?
How does that make the movie racist?
edit: Marvel movies have been a constant source of disappointment for me. I liked X-men as a kid, I do not like any of the movies.
I would agree with you except the protagonists motivation wasn't "we have to stop him because his views are wrong" the actual motivation was "we have to stop him because we don't want to share our technology with anyone". The main character was actually MORE racist than the bad guy because the bad guy was all "fuck all non-black people" and the hero was all "fuck all non-wakandans".
Edit: also the way every black person treated every non-black person in the movie was extremely racist. Like calling white people 'colonizer' as an insulting derogatory term in the same veinl as cracker or nigger.
Plus the overly 'barbaric' tribal rituals they showcased in the movie made absolutely no fucking sense for a civilization that is supposed to be that advanced. It is like saying "no matter how much you advance black people they will always be savages." Obviously it was completely unintentional and they just wanted to showcase African culture, but I mean it was still a fairly harsh general overtone of racism throughout the entire movie.
