Season 1 used D&D as a vague metaphor for the group's adventure. Season 2, set in 1984, moved it forward to arcade games by using Dig Dug. If next season is another year in the future they could be using another sort of game as the metaphor. Super Mario Brothers original NES game came out in 1985. Could they reference that? Climbing through pipes saving the princess? This group of kids seems like exactly the type that would have gotten that system when it came out.

Was fantastic.

Poor kitty and poor samwise.

So that's really Sam...samwise, it's a bit hard to recognize him now.

I think opening the gate again would feel boring. Been there done that kind of thing. Plus it would kind of ruin half of season 2.

Can’t imagine this show being as good without influences from the upside down.

With the last scene, it’s evident the shadow monster isn’t done yet.

Dustin and hopper were sprayed with the upside down pollen/virus, so there could be something going on there.

Additionally, the boys (and max) will be entering high school.

Still decently good tho

it's a great show done by people that aren't just competent but also gifted with real common sense, that's why it's not stupidly predictable like many others, it doesn't have random death and gore for the sake of it. Everything is beautifully meshed in order to respectfully channel lovecraft and sk

While I agree with the show being fantastic.....

Sam wise was very predictable.

not really, the way it happened with him stopping and staring and the directors implicitly showing how his character was too far from "paranormal" stuff to even grasp what is going to happen...
Predictable shows usually make it pretty easy to guess how things happen, more than what

Sounds like you’re agreeing with me.....at the moment of the scene, it was predictable.

I honestly thought, however, that since his character “seemed” so perfect, his character would turn into betrayal of some sort, or that he was a spy for Hawkins.
