Calling someone stupid doesn't make them stupid.
Maybe try giving a reason behind your claims. You made the claim so you must have one, right?

It's just criticism. This is a forum. A place where things are discussed.

It's just strange to me. It's gotten bad over the past year, but it's escalated over the past few weeks more so than ever. I've got people flaming me on every single thread, regardless of whether I've got a positive or negative opinion of the movie/show.

I wonder why any of these people bother posting here. They obviously don't care to actually discuss movies or television and anything other than generic movie reviews (it was good, it was bad etc.) seem to be met with hostility or false attacks on my personality that are in no way relevant to the conversation.

It's rather unfortunate as this sub was one of my favorite places,l on JSP. That was back when people actually liked talking about movies and shows and they didn't just insult people with different opinions and they didn't automatically assume anyone who took the time to write an articulate response was mad.

Oh well. Inb4 calm down idiot, you're a moron. Blah blah.

This forum has been hostile for as long as i can remember, maybe it just seems more heightened at the moment because there's only like 6-7 people that actively engage in discussions on a regular basis. And of those 6-7 people, i'd say all are pretty strongly opinionated and have no problem disagreeing with each other.. in strong terms. Pretty sure i've had overly heated conversations with yourself, blah and stupidkid several times over the years.. it'll never change.

Ignore the trolls and keep the flame.

There used to be a distinct difference between types of posters

There was those that had the most belligerent flaming (the typical Diablo 2 trash talk "gg ez you suck nerd bitch")
And those that mainly just had disagreements, with calling someone "stupid" occasionally if you think you outwitted them (This occurred mostly in the BattleFloor secton that no longer exists. D2jsp used to move all arguments to that section to clean up the rest of the forum.)

That's why sometimes you'll hear people talk about the "good old days" of d2jsp (maybe you won't hear that much anymore because the people that used to say that are probably gone now)

He made some great movies early-on. I actually kinda liked Sandy Wexler lol, probably his best movie recently

Haven't seen it. Watched the trailer and thought it would be terrible, maybe I'll have to force myself to watch it.

I grew up with Sandler. Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, SNL etc... But he's never been great and this past decade has just been full of movies that are hard to even watch. It doesn't matter though, he's under contract and he's getting paid tons of money to put together a string of movies that were created by him and his friends passing around a bong lol. I don't even smoke, but this guy is living the fucking life. It'd be amazing if I got paid to turn any fucking random idea my friends have while baked into a movie, I can't even imagine how cool that'd be.

Tbh discussing something with you while having a different opinion leads to you putting down or insulting the other. No matter how civil the discussion was in the first place. Its very easy for you to act condescendingly and assume that your opinion is the "right" one. (We're all a little guilty of the latter, but you tend to exaggerate)

To a certain extent, it shows that you care or are passionnate about the topics you engage in. I can respect that. But dont be surprised if you get "attacked" when you're continually putting people or their opinions down.

Anyway, these are my 2 cents. I'm not sure you care.
