I really hope they don't end up having him being Gandalf or Saruman. It would be really stupid of them doing something that weird that goes against the lore.

The blue Wizards really don't have much written about them (that I know of) so they should have some creative liberties with them.

they are indeed not well used characters by JRRT, but i think they wont be blue wizards. because in the end both turned to evil. even after Sauron's fall JRRT implied they're still out there manipulating kingdoms of men to turn to evil.

Again, episode 5 was fine. Neither myself nor the wife view the show as a "cant wait for next weeks episode".

We have Prime so we watch it. We are also both in agreement that the Numanor storyline is bad, the characters are pretty unlikable and it just doesn't make sense. Likewise, the story in the Southernlands is also pretty bad. I don't fully understand why people are sitting watching a bunch of torches coming at them knowing they're about to die and why they have been doing that for two episodes now.

I have to look at a map, but can't they start going the opposite direction and just have a good head start at running away? I could have missed something. Also the elfs comments had me laughing. "They could be here in days, or maybe hours". Good estimating man.

The other two storylines ongoing are carrying the show keeping us intrigued enough to tune in next week.

saruman isn't a blue wizard.

Eh thanks captain obvious..
Alatar or Pallando(2 blue wizards) or Saruman all were part of council of 5 wizards/istari/maiar etc etc... Couldn't help being a lore Nazi could you?

Even better would be if they made galadriel as a side character and given a non cannon role as a lead. That way they wouldn't fuck up the lore as much.

Okay bud.

That was the initial idea, however Tolkien, as he did on several occasions, changed his mind on this later on & gave them a happy ending

Initially it was Alatar & Pallando came to middle-earth in the 3rd age with the other 3 wizards to stop Sauron, however they eventually failed their task, & were probably corrupted similar to Saruman, & may have founded magic cults in the east & south.

Later on Tolkien said, ya know what, actually I think they came to middle-earth in the second age, went to the east & South, & were successful enough to when those forces joined Sauron, they didn’t outnumber the forces of the west.

Didn't Tolkien also say Gandalf was the only wizard to ever stay faithful to his mission to help defeat Sauron?

But that could have been before he changed his mind lol.
