He never said that he is not fixing bugs. If you look at his patch notes he is fixing tons of bugs weekly with every patch.
I remember the exact quote you are thinking of here, he said that he doesn't prefer to fix bugs since it is not as fun as adding new content. Not exactly verbatim, but that is the main point there, I can find the exact source on that one if you wish, but I'm out the door right now.
The fact of the matter is he is fixing bugs weekly, and never said that he isn't fixing them, just that he has more fun adding new content.
EDIT: I do agree though, competition is better for us.
If it's not as bad as the complaining (and copious youtube videos of said bugs. legs breaking from walking into doors, random deaths while just standing around, really bad graphical glitches, etc) then maybe I'll give it a shot.
