http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-17-epic-unveils-unreal-engine-4-with-stunning-in-game-screens

Epic has unveiled Unreal Engine 4 with stunning screenshots that showcase what will hopefully be possible with the next generation of consoles.

In a Wired article, Epic staff discussed the tech, which was shown behind closed doors and under NDA at the Game Developers Conference earlier this year.

The screenshots above are taken from the 153 second Unreal Engine 4 real-time demo powered by the Nvidia Kepler GTX 680. It shows an armoured demon knight in a mountain fortress. Lava flows as the knight wields a huge hammer as he enters a metal corridor before looking out at mountain peaks. It's designed to show lens flare, distortion, environmental destruction and other fancy graphics techniques.

The engine itself introduces dynamic lighting, which, according to Wired, behaves in response to its own inherent properties rather than programmed effects.

"There is a huge responsibility on the shoulders of our engine team and our studio to drag this industry into the next generation," said Gears of War design director Cliff Bleszinski. "It is up to Epic, and Tim Sweeney in particular, to motivate Sony and Microsoft not to phone in what these next consoles are going to be. It needs to be a quantum leap. They need to damn near render Avatar in real time, because I want it and gamers want it - even if they don't know they want it."

Sweeney added: "We're much more in sync with the console makers than any other developer is. That means we can give detailed recommendations with a complete understanding of what is going to be commercially possible."

Apparently Epic has seen the specs of the PS4 and next Xbox and is "actively lobbying" for them to be more powerful.

Epic will reveal Unreal Engine 4 to the public at the E3 trade show in June

There has been a lot of dancing around the subject, but no actual denial when it comes to the "rumored" Battlefield 3 Premium Service. Take Alan Kertz, for example.

Well, this is fine and all, but what does this tweet mean? Notice the words "Rumor and Speculation".

Those words provide no intention of denial, but exerts a rather subliminal way of saying "I wish you'd only post what I/We (DICE) approve of".

We can happily confirm that the Battlefield 3 Premium Content Service is no rumor, and is definitely set to launch on June 4th, 2012, along with the double XP for PC players.
When the "rumor" first started circulating, we had a credible source, which turned out to be right. Now we have multiple sources which are all saying the exact same thing.

The date may be subject to change as of now, since this post has gone live, but remember - it's coming, and with the mix reaction of fans, who knows where it'll take the Battlefield franchise.

Here's some the information regarding Battlefield Premium. Thanks to our good friend 32bita:

Battlefield Premium contains all 5 Battlefield expansion packs with early access, new camos, and exclusive in-game items for a one-time fee.

hopefully its 50bux max

An ambitious Crysis mod titled CryZone: Sector 23 has made the jump to full game status, Russian developer Owl Game Studio has announced.

As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, it's a moody FPS built in CryEngine 3 liberally borrowing story elements from GSC's S.T.A.L.K.E.R series.

The developer's grasp of written English is a little shaky but, according to the game's official site, it focuses on a grief-stricken protagonist who, mourning the death of his son, enters The Zone - a mysterious wasteland devoid of electrical power and populated by mutants. It seems he's looking for the Wish Granter in the hope that he can be reunited with his child.

Owl promises new varieties of anomalies, a Far Cry 2-esque healing system, fully destructible environments, five huge locations, advanced AI, a sparring arena and new enemy types.

It'll be free-to-play and, with GSC's recent closure, could be the closest thing you'll ever get to a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel. There's no word on a precise release date as of yet.

Rifle through the screenshots below for a closer look.
