Well I think I figured it out. I have DVI w/e going to the monitor and HDMI going to the TV. & years ago, during last upgrade, I did the same thing. I forgot to unplug the HDMI cable.
I called EVGA last time and they were helping me trouble shoot. The tech guy said, turn on your TV...so I did... there was my desktop on the TV.
Until you can get into the Nvidia control panel, and set the primary display, the vid card chooses what it thinks is the primary display.
I'm betting that's what happened this time. Well, my 8 pin extension cable will be coming on the 14th, so that's when I'll try again. LOL
I already reset the BIOS to defaults, so that should rule that out. Now I just have to remember to unhook the HDMI cable before I try to turn the comp on.
If I wasn't installing a new OS too with this upgrade, I could've just turned on the TV, gone into Nvidia control panel and set the primary to my Dell monitor.
This makes a lot of sense, cause the motherboard passed all the LED tests, the POST and threw up no beep codes or anything. I was pretty tired after cleaning the case of years worth of dust, and the Hyper 212 EVO install (crappy directions ofc), that I never even thought about the HDMI going to the TV.
I feel much better now.
