Both GS and IGN have really fallen off the wagon, both were bought and brought under new management, and both have suffered. It is all about the money now.

Do some research, you will see time and time again that GS/IGN have given great reviews for advertising dollars.

Why do you think all of the old guard at GS pretty much quit at the same time? You think this is for a reason, its definitely not coincidence.

I know all those stories very well but I've been using those websites for a decade or so. The old GS (pre Gurnstman getting fired when Greg Kasavin was around etc..) was EASILY the best and new IGN (post 2010) is absolutely shit compared... I pretty much hate IGN nowadays but they used to be so great

But my point is..

if Deus Ex gets 10 from for example PCgamer, or 1UP (it did actually and it got a 10 from somewhere else)... no one cares. if IGN or GS gives a 10... the entire internet would explode with raging hate or love and there would be endless debates and best game evaaar etc. And would stand out as one of the best games of the generation, regardless

I'm saying IGN/GS are no where near as great because for like 2 decades they were practically the Oscars of the gaming world, if you will. Again, if PCgamer gives a 10, no one would care. How many 10s has PCgamer given this gen? oh wait, I actually don't know, because no one even cares.

How many has GS/ IGN given? 3. I know that, and any gamer with half a brain cell that actually does research around games will know that there are 3, and which 3 they are. But picking out PCgamer was a bad example because you do have a point, their word is certainly valued above the average reviewer.

My point is still valid though.



Not my fault console games are favoured, I certainly think games like Oblivion should score MUCH higher on PC than consoles, but GS at least admits they have a tougher review scale on PC, and if they reviewed PC games the same as console games they would have to score everything higher
