"It looks like GameFly is taking a cue from Netflix and its Watch Instantly video streaming with the planned launch of Unlimited PC Play later this year. It's pretty much what it sounds like: subscribers will be able to download any game from a list of offered titles and play it as long as they remain paying customers.
The company plans to launch the new feature sometime this fall, with a beta starting in September at a Los Angeles launch event at which all attendees will receive two beta codes to use and share. Those who won't be able to make it to LA can still sign up at the company's website.
None of the initially offered games have been revealed, but GameFly of course hopes to bring everyone on board. "We're talking to all publishers about participating," company co-founder Sean Spector told Joystiq.
"Several have been signed, but we're not announcing at this time. In the 'Unlimited PC Play' portion for GameFly subscribers, we expect to have over a hundred titles available for the beta launch, but we'll be adding to the list constantly and should have hundreds at the time of our holiday launch."
Spector also said that the company currently has no plans to offer Unlimited PC Play as a separate subscription, much like Netflix does with it's digital-only option. It will simply be a feature of your regular subscription.
For those readers who aren't GameFly subscribers: is this enough to convince you to sign up?
