There is a new BF3 Alpha Trial Client available, but it seems BattleLog will not automatically update it, for whatever reason.. This update is optional and not needed to play the game wtih the current version. And you still will be able to play with friends if you decide not to update. Below are the steps to update it:


1.Close Origin, if running.
2.Go to C:\ProgramData\Origin\DownloadCache\<YourEmail>\
3.Rename the downloadcache file with a '-1' on the end or something. (or delete it, recommend renaming)
4.Go to Control Panel
5.Add/remove Programs
6.Uninstall BF3 Alpha Trial
7.Restart Origin
8.BF3 Alpha Trial should be ready to download again.

Enjoy.. I am updated on my end. If you want to see the changelog, goto the BattleLog > News tab and you will see the info for the update there. I would post the Update news, but NDA might be an issue.
