Fairly cutting edge on a mobile platform. GDDR5 is more expensive and hotter and requires more voltage than GDDR3. When designing mobile hardware you have to be crazy careful about TDP which is fairly difficult when also trying to fit the device in a tiny space where cooling is difficult and keep good battery life.
