This is case with pretty much every antivirus (paid or free).
Best antivirus is just stay away form sketchy shit (don't try and download "free" movies, don't open random email attachments, etc).

Nah, there is some out there that doesn’t take that much. Either way, I would disable it while gaming no matter what

But for browsing / downloading files it could be a good option.

I heard bitdefender and malwarebytes is quite light weight.

AVG and Norton is garbage taken from personal experience

Never used bitdefender, but malwarebytes free version isn't real time protection, just a scan tool.
