yes. each character has specific stat caps. track your characters distance to max at http://realmeye.com
the caps are specific to class, but all classes (excluding knight) have a max defense of 25 (+armor bonus) while knight has 40

if i decide I want to dump some FG into this, whats the best class?
Also whats the best way to get drops?
Are all the portals in town basically same monsters, or does each portal type have dif mobs/drops?

class is based on your own preference. i'd say start with something ranged and forgiving, like a priest or necro. the best drops come from Gods and Dungeons, but you need to learn a lot and get at least level 20 first, if not a few potions drank. theres another thread one or 2 down the rotmg list where Shn posted some very helpful advice.

or check the wiki on realmeye.com which i linked in my previous post. also, theres an old (but still being updated regularly) guide site by a player named Bluenoser here: http://bluenosersguide.weebly.com/

and yes, all the portals in nexus lead to the same type of realm, with the same general monsters. there are only a few very strong "events" which are only once per realm.

sweetness sounds fun kind of like hardcore animated ladder slasher lol

I noticed all top legends are rangers or mages, do they have better special abilities or something?

just how it works. those are always changing, you can see any class up there. personally i think dagger classes have the most useful abilities, while staffs are best for groups/potion farming.

Certain events spawn once per realm and have good items.
Sphinx is one of them. Has a ...30%(?) chance to drop tomb and in the tomb you can find life pots and strong untiered items and rings.
Hermit is another one. Can drop a trench which can drop a very decent untiered armor and bow (The bow is basically the one all the archer/huntress characters use).

You are trying to go to hard for being new. You should focus on dodging and learning the mechanics. Don't spend your FG at all unless you are comfortable with your ability to survive. Then don't risk your potted/geared character in situations you are not sure about. If you've never killed a certain event before, don't charge in on your good guy and end up dieing. Then you will just get frustrated.

I mean I've died several hundred times...Spent and made over 100k forumgold both ways and died with much more than 300k FG in items. Perma death games are just like that.

/e Also find a active guild that will help you as far as teaching you stuff. Don't beg or ask for free shit though because that just gets annoying.

yeah I didnt plan on diving in i just meant spend a hundred or 2 fg on a few pots some mid teir gear and test the waters. ive played before and its okay just never understood the point. now that I get more into hardcore games like PoE HC and such i kind of enjoy the risk more haha.

sucks imo :(
the new dungeon is just a new way to kill players

too many bosses that oneshots every class and instantly kills them :(
only play if you want to play 8hours a day and be a addicted pro
else its just a waste of time
