how? I've farmed over 40 stat pots in the last couple hours. granted, getting life/vita/mana is a little harder, but you can trade for those pretty easy.

Because amulets used to be rare.

If you don't have an amulet, going 8/8 or even 7/8 was VERY risky as it cost about 100+ def just to max life, let alone mana on a character that could die at any moment.

Sure you could 8/8 and stick amulets on your chars like everyone does now, but when you crack that amulet it cost 150 def to rebuy another, not 8 def.
Very few people could afford to do this, so going 8/8 was an extreme luxury for the richest players (or players who don't give a fuck)

I had only 1 Amulet befor the Dupe-Session started and had 2x 8/8 ( Muled the Amulet all the time ) but i had many Def Potions so it was easy to buy now some Amulet's

Also got 4x 8/8 2x 7/8 and 1x 6/8 ( and some 2-4/8 )

I didn't play the game then. I do play with amulets but haven't broken any since right after I first started playing. My last 2 chars I've made are 8/8 and 6/8 all by farming my own pots. The life and mana I traded items/pots for. Maybe I'm just lucky with getting a lot of blue bags, but it seems pretty easy to me(if your goal is farming pots).

actually, I take that back, the 6/8 I have, I got frustrated with no undead lairs spawning so I bought the wisdom pots on jsp.

No one said it is difficult to 8/8, the comment was that being 8/8 used to be 'rare'. Like I said, it was a risk of investment that simply doesn't exist anymore which deterred people from going 8/8. Many people had the ability to 8/8, but they chose not to because it was not worth it to them.

Only reason i pumped a couple manas was the get mp to 300 so i could cast 3 heals in a row,
And if your using a prot on a priest.. holy fuck it was awesome

I see. I thought it was a universal goal to get your character to 8/8. I guess I'm mistaken in that.

I have goals of getting my 3 chars up to like 2/8 on each at first.
a knight max life/def
a rogue maxing dex/speed

necro is only one I wanna 8/8 and im not even sure I wanna do that. some pots are ridic expensive.
