in 5 more years everyone will have a bot for d2r

you're very optimistic
I think it takes less than a year for everybody to run a bot
most of the pple currently run one

D4 is both MMO and ARPG.

Nope, arpg definition is D2 itself with its core elements. Ofc those could be took to higher level but removing core elements and then claiming game is still arpg, that can not be possible. I mean its easy if you stick to definition, if not then you can say blue is black if you want.

Guess that by your dumb fuck definition, d1 isn't an ARPG

Or titan quest isn't an ARPG

or any ARPG that came before d2 isn't an ARPG.

You're just wrong. as always.

Diablo 4 is an ARPG. May not fit your own definition of the genre , but it's still an ARPG.

D1 is arpg it had open trading and everything else arpg needs to have. And you are always right, right?

Open trading is not part of the definition of ARPG.

I like a game where every item can be traded, but it's not part of the definition.

Let's be real, 99% of the d1 playerbase played single player, trading had nothing to do with the game.

It is definition if you know whats needed for game (arpg) to be good and which elements of it makes game as it is(good). And D2 is perfect but not the only example.

Right but open trading was there and game was for 2 players max (not sure if it was possible for more) so ofc it would be mostly single, but options were and still are there. Im not convincing anyone that they should use open trade, but im sure option of open trading should be there, but in D4 they forced you not to trade( limited only).

We will have to wait and see... hard to play d2r outside the first week of ladder reset with all the bots. As much as I enjoy the completely open economy of D2, its not possible today because of the mass spread of information & botting. D4 will have end game items that are bind on pickup so that it will still be playable after people start botting... who knows people might not even bot it if there's no point to.

So D2R, maybe 4 weeks of the year its playable, diminishing each ladder you play.

D4, possibly lots more to do, less repetitive stuff, bots don't win, etc. Have to wait and see.

The imminent release of D4 also doesn't mean all-or-nothing, D2R or D4.

Could easily see plenty of folks rotating between the two (depending on ladder season schedules), at least for the first season or two of D4.

This thread will probably go on for sometime.

We saw it happen with D3 and D4 appears hardly any different. Within 5 years the majority of the D4 player base will go back to D2R.

D2R is near perfect and with continued updates it will remain the champion of the series.

Prove me wrong.

D2 is awesome but after so many hours something new is awesome.

There's no hardcore pking so there's not really any true end-game content like there is for D2R. This game will die like d3.

Undoubtedly Blizz will introduce monetization and ruin it just like they have every game since the Activision merger which will only be worse now with the Microsoft merger.

All of Blizzard is gone, the only thing they share is the name. Now it's just run by Tencent. Unfortunately Blizzard has only learned that the monetization methods they used to ruin WOW, D3, and immortal works for their short term bottom line as they bleed this company dry.
