rly lol? its because d2r will be dead by the time d4 comes out. ppl rly think d2r will live another 20 years? no way. it was nice to play through d2 again with the new graphs and all, but ive alrdy seen enough of it and many others as well. sure ill play ladder but honestly? its the same shit alllll over again. its not gonna last very long. there is no endgame. ok they MIGHT come with new content, which is like a 1% chance. like theyre gonna add good stuff to a 20 years old code... nope, dream on

D4 will be D3 will druid added. That’s it. Endless grift grind and nothing more. I feel for you if you think that’s any kind of endgame. Holding out for new content is a pipe dream. I,for one, am happy with D2R. I doubt anyone expects this game to live on for another 20 years. I am experiencing things in D2R that I never got to experience in 20 years of D2. Solo, self found in D2R has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me and others I’m sure.

Idk when the last time you played Diablo 2 is but they community has been going strong this whole time and now that it’s released on platform and remastered this game will carry on another 20+ years easy. With the strong community it already had and the new growing community. Plus room to add expansions and more runes words the possibilities are endless.

If I had to choose,just judging off what I've seen of d4.Id probably take d2r content/expansions/new runewords > d4. I will try d4 when it comes out,might totally change my mind. Time will tell.

Can't put in loot crates / battle passes to further casino-ize the game - easier to do this in a new title so it's not so obviously demoralizing

Activision isn't going to support a pay 2 win model when they aren't the ones getting paid. Creating barriers to the P2W model of d2 in favor of Activision collecting the $$ would require substantial changes to the game itself. For example, I could see Activision allowing you to buy a charm which increases your odds of HR drops. You can pay $50 for the charm. This is the seedy type of P2W shit activision does in other titles, like how in Warzone you can pay for skins to unlock broken weapons/attachments that are otherwise nearly impossible to unlock through gameplay.

D2 has a super old codebase full of bugs, hotfixes etc., making development on top of it very difficult. Needs a lot of refactoring which again would change game mechanics.
