I think what needs to be considered is that you will indeed find more magic shakos in relation to white ones..which is the function of magic find. In comparison, you get much more bang for your buck on blue items than when compared to unique items. Most charts prove this and so does the calc.

Like any science, it can be flawed and numbers can be skewed. I suggest performing whatever methods yield the best drops for you. These include but are not limited to : Running low % mf totals for equal loot chance, using mf from charms only, mf from gems only, various before game superstitions(wearing a particular shirt or under garmet), and finally whatever form of sacrificial means you find needed.

Those are not unique embbalmed numbers tho, are they? :)

I get the same numbers for regular monsters ^^

If I could kill as fast with 1500 (which is an impossible number btw) I'd go with it.

Going over the 400-500-600 is usually not worth it, because of that.

Yea first time I used that particular calc. Looking at different mediums can be misleading , especially line charts.

jomblified claims you get less uniques as you get more MF, which is not true. seb says you get more uniques and the returns diminish. for example if you go from 0 to 100 mf, you will see X% more uniques, but the same investment at 1000 mf (1000 to 1100) will grant an additional Y% uniques, with Y < X. so you get less for what you put in.

to recap, the game rolls the item when a monster dies. it rolls the base first from a distribution of treasure classes. once it picks an item from a bin, it will basically do a tournament selection in the order: uniques, sets, magic items, white items (superior, normal, low quality) and i think socketed is in there somewhere at the end.

mathematically, the is NO cap on MF. go to hero editor and make a hero with 10k MF. you will get uniques every 5 second. but for legit players, the only constraint is equipment, and there is a trade between MF and killing speed. e.g., dual crystal sword barb with 6 ist's per sword would have a huge MF but crap damage, and if you consider it as a function of time and items available, there is much greater benefit to kill faster with low MF than to kill slow with high MF.
