I had to sell my nice dual res / MF / FHR boots. I've been saving a better pair for hell, but that pair lacks MF. Currently using tearhaunch for the frw & resist-all & stat points.

I finally hit a wall, kind-of, in A4 today right out of the gate. There were two or three super packs camped at the stairs and I probably lured yet another pack or two in when grabbing the exp shrine.



Merc quickly died and I had no gold to get him back. I have a nasty gambling habit and didn't notice gold was frighteningly low.

So I was forced (kind-of) to start some re-runs. I ran countess twice and travincal once. I didn't get any gear updates out of it, only more crap to save.

For instance, on the way to countess:

I saved the Sol for a blood ring, or another Lore (I still have the lore crown). And the Ko of course, for upping a unique armor hopefully someday.

Another Countess run was discouraging:


So I called it quits and decided I just needed a new strategy.


Glacial Spike ... is my new strategy. Totally freezes the abyss knights and other baddies! Merc was doing just fine up until now, but now he needs me to not just chill but totally freeze the enemies.

I'm still using defensive merc from normal. Is this the correct choice? I figure I'm freezing / chilling monsters anyway so holy freeze would be redundant. Of course, if the monsters were both chilled and holy-frozen then maybe merc could survive and I could still shoot fireballs. Ofc, those abyss knights are fire-immune anyway... Anyway, this new strategy is working just fine for A4.


I'm still looking for boot & amulet & glove & ring upgrades, so a random caster boot craft:


(iso ral, so crafted boots instead) Charsi...


And I cubed another two savage polearms. Still no life leach, but since merc now has LL from armor I gave him a bigger faster weapon:

ya keep the merc ya got. he just needs some better gear. and at the point you are at you can start shopping for high ed exceptional wepons.
