ZvZ is meant to be dueled on a bridge map, which enables players to walk/corner opponents, and therefore if the match is over an hour long it means that either (a) its not on a bridge map or (b) both players dont now what good ZvZ looks like or (c) both players are comfortable to just make it a sniping match (this is common, but not bm, and the lower repl limits the better).
the bolded was:
SvS is not a melee duel, both players are not meant to be inscreen vs each other for the entire round. its a case of one chasing the other, while the other is also actively trying to kill the chaser. if you think both players are meant to only have 1 engagement per round I would beg to differ. Casting Blizz in an opponents suspected traveling path is normal, as is firing FB trains. There is a fine line between that and being too passive.
Ultimately as a referee I have to weigh up my words carefully before making a statement noting I am not looking for drama or to negatively change behavior ingame, or in the round/match. Why dont YOU play 1 match vs any sorc in this tournament, upload the video and show us how its done. Chad has already uploaded 1 of his matches. To be honest Chad's temperament is great here. He is actively promoting SvS and the competitiveness of his opponents, via his comments, intentionally.
In the round there is now a SvS ladder and if thats the one takeaway that came from this tournament, then great. Long may SvS continue, thrive and grow.
Here's a great example of 200 vita fire vs 200 vita fire involving a contestant from this tournament:
Obviously this is aggro vs aggro, a player can be defensive but to play a 200 vita fire like you're an inferior on es fb or something, just is and will always be cringe. I've got nothing against Chad either, he seems alright. But a tourney winner shouldn't claim more skilled if they play a certain way to win, imo.
