I would have been fine with several different people but it was never presented appropriately by anybody and none of them actually expressed any interest in doing it.

You like to say "entitled" and "power trip" and "status" but you don't understand what you're talking about. Entitled implies unearned privilege which doesn't apply here. My motivation here was never ego, it was obligation to maintain the integrity of something people before me put a lot of work into creating and maintaining.

Had you handled the situation correctly and maturely the outcome would have been much different.
