I've had enough lectures, stop trying to make me out to be the bad guy. I can't force him to come online and take his items just like I can't force you to lift the ban on my characters that use NONE of his gear that I paid for. I'm doing the right thing and would appreciate at least a shred of mutual good manners while I patiently wait on Scott to sort this out.

Yea, I think he is doing the right thing and being patient till gtskins responds. Lets not force some1 out when he is actaully gm d2 fan especially WHEN THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY D2 FANS LEFT on this planet.

So, please take my opinion with a grain of salt. I've been out of the melee community for quite a while, and I'm having an absolute blast being back, even if it's not quite as active as it was when I quit some years ago. I can acknowledge this is a pretty shitty situation, and having been on the bad end of some scams in the past (obviously no where near to the extent that Scott was scammed), it's nice to see the community standing up for someone who was wronged. I don't know Scott and I've only known Cyle since coming back ~6 weeks or so. I may not know all of the details going on behind the scenes. I acknowledge that if Cyle was indeed knowingly buying Scott's scammed items then there is no justification for that. I do view his actions at this current point, offering to give them back for free, as a very nice gesture as it'll be quite a hit on his own expense. I guess I'm more curious where everyone stands going forward, if the items are accepted back by Scott, or not. Does that change anything?

It is encouraging to see everyone stand behind someone who was royally fucked by a scam. I'm trying to choose my words wisely as I don't want to offend anyone or give them the wrong impression. I'll stress again that if Cyle knowingly bought the items under the impression that they were scammed from Scott then I can't stand up for him. All I have to go by is the fact that Cyle has been a nice guy to me since I've returned and it would be unfortunate to block someone from participating if they genuinely were in the dark and are trying to make best of this situation by offering the gear back for free at his own expense.

If anyone has any other information they could share with me either by posting here or PM'ing me I'd appreciate it.

This has been beaten to death lately and I'm kinda done with it.

Who buys 300k worth of shit for 100k from a 2 day old multi and doesn't know its scammed? Especially the type of items and of the elite quality that gtakin had.

I have it on good authority that he even knew they probably belonged to gtakin because he said that he thought besh's garreats belonged to gtakin during the purchase of the stolen goods.

If that's the type of person you all want in this community then fucking go for it. We'll just become just like the ghost community and all those scamming fucks.

If you want to give him some type of credit for wanting to give them back only after he realized there would be repercussions for his actions, then that's fantastic, go for it.

I'll be back of course, my current schedule just isn't conducive to being able to participate in the ladder right now. You guys hold it down.

Shut the fuck up bitch. All you've done is drop thousands of dollars and knowingly buy shit that was stolen from one of the nicest doods in melee.

You're a piece of shit and you haven't earned the right to even post here.

Fuck off.

you're the piece of shit for hacking my account and deleting my character. Why the fuck would you do that. I'm no one. You fucking faggot.

i'm behind this 100%. SpamBam has been nothing but seemingly cordial throughout this process from the moment it was called out. If GTakin doesn't want to come back or what have you(I don't know the whole story ofc) then that's on him, not SpamBam. Just let the guy play. The game is dead enough without people trying to carry out a vendetta on someone who merely bought gear and didn't actually scam.

You people make my face numb.

This sentiment goes against everything we've stood for since inception.

I didn't just make up this stance on SpamBam myself out of a vendetta you dipshit. I consulted the leaders of this ladder and your guild leaders and we came to a consensus on a course of action. It's the same stance we've taken for years.

I'm not a dictator I just try to do what the majority want while balancing the integrity of Melee. If the majority want something different then speak on it and we can let our community go to shit out of fear of lack of participation. I'd rather have quality over quantity.

I never had a problem with SpamBam. I mediated a big trade for him right before all this shit went down.

Ok, cool. It's not a vendetta. No one is trying to sort this shit out more than spambam, yet, he's being shunned for trying to correct it. What kind of precedence does that set?

The argument is fear on both sides. Logically speaking the stance of no scammed gear period is unenforceable except for the highest of quality gear. Which introduces a bias. The argument that the community will turn into scammers is nonsense. The majority of scammers don't even play Melee (and not because of the rule). The argument that you should allow it because the community is small is nonsense. It really comes down to whether the rule does more positive than negative.

Granted I don't have a say in your community, I've only been playing a zealer since 1.08.

If anything is going to destroy the Melee community, it's drama.

It sets the same precedence we've set since inception. In melee we don't condone scamming or those who facilitate scamming or the sale of stolen goods.

I don't play into this pity party bullshit. He knew what he was doing and did it anyway.

It's not my job to fix it, it's his if he wants to participate here.

You can't prevent a threat that you're un-aware of. I'm making a logical leap in assuming he didn't actually know that it was stolen. Now what?
