I'm just curious. Why is there so many restrictions to this in the rules? Some I agree with but not being allowed to use a characters melee skills or using weapons that have elemental damage stats kind of take a lot of the fun from what pvp is about. Having a watered down version melee duels is a bit silly in my opinion. Either way it is your rules but I just recently got back into d2 and was a huge melee advocate over a decade ago and really would like to get back into the melee vs melee scene but too many rules is meh.

The rules are the way they are to give all 4 classes a decent chance of being able to win in a duel vs someone that isn't their class.
I don't see how any of these rules give you a watered down version of melee. The rules are the way they are to make it more fun for everyone. Allowing elemental damage would completely change the way you built your character. Items with mass elemental damage would increase in value, you'd have to start worrying about resistances and such. Don't fix somethin if it ain't broken.

So what? that just adds more strategy to builds. There are only 4 classes allowed to do melee? So basically I couldn't make a non enchant melee sorc to melee? like i can understand why enchant wouldnt be allowed because it is basically a magic skill but i cant bring an ES/Frozen armor sorc to fight? lol. I just find it silly taking away different strategies to make everyone build the same way. You are right, dont fix what isnt broken. So why break whats already there and fix it towards one specific strategy? That is what i mean by watered down.

A Sorceress is a caster. It's the only class of character that has an obvious intention, why would you make her go against her nature.
Frozen armor == cold damage > 200.
The answer to that question is a sorceress is too OP with that reflective dmg frozen armor shit. That would give them the advantage to any other class because they don't even have to attack to deal damage.
You can't use that for the same reason a zealer can't use a tap build vs a non-paladin character. Since no other class can have that high % chance to cast tap in a GM way, the exile would give THEM too much of an advantage to be considered GM.

If that is the case then how come paladin auras are allowed? It is the same thing. The only aura that isn't allowed on a paladin is ice aura correct? This I agree with because there is no way to negate being frozen by it. How is frozen armor OP and who cares if she goes against her nature being melee? That is the whole reason this game even got as far as it has. Because there are so many ways you can build a character. You can build a barb as a singer which is basically a casting class but there is no rules against doing that it looks like in the original post. Building that goes against his nature. Its no different. As for tap. that has been BM for 15 years. I understand that rule as well. Honestly its not even good to keep with zeal vs zeal. You need tap to beat tap and that basically just restricts zealers to having one build as well. The point is there is too many restrictions. I used to play this game on US west over 10 years ago and was in a group called temple. Im not sure if anyone remembers the guy stoutwood. He was the leader of it. There were gm rules for it but they were far less restricting than any of the rules I am seeing these days. Everything evolved to the point where players are just taking all the fun out of what made d2 the game it once was.

start your ladder some people might join. But this ladder is fix and won't change this is pur melee class/dmg/gm ladder.
Elemental all class melee ladder would be so stupid lol no one would use jabber zon or fury wolf or conc, They would use
fire dmg on druid, echant on sorc with bmana maxed psn kick sin zealer tap with enchant wep in stash ... this is going no where imo but try it ...build your own ladder and maybe some poeple will join maybe i'll do.
But this ladder won't change.

21000 Posts of melee duels using this specific rule set versus Zero of yours.
Nuff Said?

Only Ladder that might fly would be a BM Melee Ladder.
FireClaws/PowerStrike/Zerk/Vengeance/(Melee Sorc)
The rules would require 10 years of perfecting before any numbers would join in, and believe me I have thought about this for many moons and it would be too hard to balance.
You should have kept playing Mr.Advocate.... :rofl:
