I was force fed French culture as a kid in school to appease the Quebecois. TLDR; they wanted to leave canada for years, but never won enough political power to actually do it. I will admit though that poutine is amazing.

That's because Lacross ain't the name we gave to that sport, but the one the Europeans gave it.

I hated Quebec as much as the next syrup sucking Blue guzzler but I went to live there for 6 months and the people are a lot nicer than they get credit for. It's really just the 50++ crowd who wanted to separate. One thing is for sure, people in Quebec are in a lot better shape than the rest of Canada in general, which puts them light years ahead of the fat americans.
