This is a nice hunting list.

To be honest I just get 1-2 bottles for 50-100€ a year from my local liquor store and slowly socially have them over dinner when friends are over.

I did try Laphroig, but I’m not sure I’m big on smokyness. Last one was Glenlivet Distillers Reserve. Going through Macallan 12 now.

Get this while you still can.
It is reasonably cheap for it's quality which is par excellence.

This is old bottling

Stuff like this is about 400 to 500 USD when I was selling them.
I used to have 2 cases of total 12 bottles, that I finished with my mates.
With employee discount I was getting it at 300 USD.

Now it is not worth the price anymore. The market for Whisky is screwed and overpriced because of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong but mainly China.

Thanks for the resume, but I think you haven't drunk enough to have a sense of humour.

Yea I love the smokiness. I’m not a fan of the burn. I really don’t like drinking anything above 50%. 43% is just right me- laphroaig is my go to scotch…unfortunately I am Russian and drink about a third of a bottle per sitting if not the whole half. The 16 takes me longer to drink for sure- I would say 5 sittings. I can drink it faster but the 16 I like to savor, no reason to drink it quick. Those 5% make a difference to me. The 30 year laphroaig I spoke off is 46%- that already tells me it is magical.

Not a fan of trying different whisky’s. I have dipped and dabbled when I was younger but Laphroaig is my one true love. Macallen gives me a very angry mood….and off the topic of scotch and to the topic of whisky, I don’t understand how people drink Jameson..

Cheers to you all good ppl

This is a very special Laphroaig at the bottom. I had 2 bottles of it. I got a discount as an employee and it cost about 270 SGD which is about 200 USD at that point of time.
One of the best Laphroaig bottled for the past 20 years. My boss and company higher ups went to Laphroaig and personally pick the casks and it was bottled in an Official bottling with only 900 plus available.

30 to 35% went to the Japanese market , the Rest went to EU and USA. And we have about 40 bottles in Singapore in 2005, 2006.

It was 200 USD. Now it cost about 15,000 Pounds and in some sites in EU it went up as high as 17,000 Euro

Genuinely jealous of you guys. One day when I grow up I'll refine my palate and upgrade from 30-40 dollar whisky.

I drink wine now. Whisky and Single Malts too expensive. Not going to spend 1K Plus USD for a less than half decent whisky.

But I have a suggestion for you and this is quite reasonably cheap. Should cost around 40 to 50 USD.
And the quality is AMAZING.

I think the full 700 ML bottle cost about 75 USD. Normally I get the 500 ML Bottle.
The price / quality of the spirit is superior to those that are price 150 to 200 USD and above if we are comparing the current whisky market in 2023.
