I read “dropping Ukraine” like a hot potato.

That is the solution in this case. The stick (Ukraine) that was used to poke the bear (Russia) failed. Russia doesn’t want the rest of Ukraine. Just it’s independent territories that are mainly Russian or belonged to Russia historically.

Even before all this nonsense, around 2016, my dad’s old friend from the army was in town for a visit. He is Russian, came to see us in NY. He told me that Ukraine was very mad but should’ve been mad at themselves- they wanted independence from Russia. Russia said no problem but changed the prices of oil for them as they were everyone else- this directly hurt all of Ukraine and I’m sure this was a contributing factor to the uprise of the clown that’s there today. America saw an opportunity and decided to poke the bear without any commitment to Ukraine.

Easy way to fix all this- give all the Russian territories back to Russia, establish a clear cut border and call it a fucking day.

By the way- even compare the help from America and Europe. It’s 4 fold more….hmmmm doesn’t smell like money laundering to me….

I would love to visit Scotland, don’t listen to anyone, I’m sure it’s a nice place. It’s my dream to get a job at the laphroaig factory and live in a nice cottage near by with a nice lass and even maybe a dog (I’m a cat person tbh, dog just seems more correct). I’ve probably drank enough laphroaig over the past decade to own a nice parcel of land there- they used to give a square foot with every bottle sold.

I used to work in a distillery in Islay.
Also Laphroaig gave me a present in 2003.

I will pm you later when I’m home with questions about this- I am really interested!

What did they give you? I’m pretty upset they discontinued the 15 and 18. 16 is alright and I am pretty stocked on it but that 15/18 years hit so right.

The best Laphroaigs was the 15 year old but the older version.

My ex company did an official bottling with Laphroaig combining a number of Laphroaig Sherry cask the make a cask strength version.
Please note that Islay whiskies seldom use sherry casks to make their spirit.

Laphroaig
Lagavulin
Ardbeg
Bowmore
Bruichladdich
bunnahabhain
Cao Isla
Port Charlotte ( reopen and bought by Bruichladdich in have their first renewed production in the early 2000s)
Port Ellen ( Closed ) used by Diageo for their Johnnie Walker Blue label blends.

Anyway they are too expensive now because of the Chinese market since the early 2010s.
The best and reasonable price whiskies that you can still get you have to get it from Japan or Taiwan.

Independent bottling look for Signatory Vintage, Gordon and Mcphail and Samaroli.

They gave me a free 30 year Sherry Laphroaig 700ML in 2004,
It was given to me by Beam Global because Beam Global was the distributor and shareholder of Laphraoig at that point.

Your post made me thirsty lol.
I’m not a fan of the sherry casks or any of the non year laphroaig stuff. I only drink Laphroaig and my back up is Lagavulin. I’d really like to try any of the Ian Hunter collection Laphroaig’s, especially the 1st version which was a 30 year.

Wut lol

The NATO trained, NATO equipped superstars were going to smash through the poorly constructed Russian lines and the poorly led, poorly trained and poorly equipped Russian troops that suffer from low morale were going to run for their lives and y'all couldn't wait for the counteroffensive to get started. MSM were talking about reaching Crimea in no time.

Who said Crimea in 1 week?

All your words. Your typical straw manning anyone and everyone you can for copium.

Edit: Ah ok MSM were talking about reaching Crimea. So why you quoting me?

The so called BIS for Islay whisky and of course older bottling in the 80s , 90s and early 2000s

Official Bottling

S Tier

Laphroaig 10
Laphroaig 15
Ardbeg 17 ( Japanese Market )
Lagavulin 16

Current Bottling

Just go for

Lagavulin 16
Laphroaig 10
Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Ardbeg 10

All other Islay whiskies are still very good but just not as good as the above. I am talking about standard issues.
I mean if you can get or even taste a 1964 Bowmore dark sherry 1st edition or the Port Ellen reissue back in the 90s and 2000s, well that is another thing altogether.

All the whisky tastes the same, it burns then it doesn't. Speyside burns best.

That is not true. I can have a 60% ABV Single cask Cask strength or a 60% ABV non Single Cask Cask strength and yet it doesn't " burn".

Highlands divide in to two parts , Highlands in General and Speyside, both are different
Islay and Isle of Skye are similar because of major peat usage for their production. Usually more than 30 PPM of Peat .
Campbeltown have a milky feel on your palate
Orkney Islands are different as well
