If the original pandemic in 2019 had these numbers, nobody would have taken it seriously and it would not have justified any lockdowns.

Pretty much. At the end of the day, it appears as if covid followed the usual trajectory of highly contagious zoonoses: causing severe disease at first because the virus is coming from a different host and not well-adapted to humans yet, but then evolves to become mild.

So 22% of the population are responsible for 32% of the cases.
The ratio of vaxed to unvax ~ 3.5

Seems to show the vaccine reduces spread by a significant amount, and that isn't even accounting for health outcomes.
