This ny times articles provided cold hard data to support the argument that Biden is more electable than Warren. It's perfectly reasonable to find this more convincing than opinion articles from NY based journalists who clearly have a harder time staying in touch with the pulse of middle america, or the six battleground states in question.

You're missing the key point: the parties, and their voters, dont hold themselves to the same standard. Trump is running for the "boys gonna be boys"-party while Biden is running for the party of #metoo-hysteria. It is the Democrats and their voters who consider themselves to be morally superior to the Republicans.

The Dems have set a higher moral standard for themselves, deliberately to distinguish themselves from the Republicans and all the "deplorables". Do you really think it is unfair if we hold the Dems to this standard that they have set for themselves?

thread is about Democratic primary yet heinrich can't help but spam here about his man-crush President Donald Trump. his posts here reek of a lover scorned.

In that case it's fine for Democrats to hold Biden to that standard but not for Republicans to. It's not like they hold Democrats to their own standard in other regards. I mean, they're not giving Biden points for being pro-choice because that's the standard Democrats hold him to.

wait, if you go by establishment media, you should always have been on the biden train - so why are you 'back'? they've been pushing him and discrediting sanders (and warren to a lesser degree as well) all along...

I'm not even sure how to respond to the first bit, and I disagree that the MSM has been pushing Biden. In fact, his consistent front runner status doesn't even seem to be acknowledged by a lot of people in the press. And I think Warren is given favorable coverage, especially in the opinion columns. If you mean the favorable polls in matchups vs Trump is the MSM pushing someone, that's just nutty stuff I would expect from a Trump cultist.

Earlier I entertained the idea that Warren's populism might be a better match against Trump, because Biden is the establishment senile guy who's not a change candidate, and the idiots who show up in November constantly claim to want fundamental change in the system. But while those things are true, I think people are going to be freaked out over the endless television ads saying their private health insurance will be ending, and such a far-left candidate probably can't win the states necessary to beat Trump.

Unlike most people, the only thing I care about is electability. I just want Trump gone, and if I thought Warren would have a better chance than Biden, I'd support her.

how often do i have to tell you that i never thought you were? i think that you don't have a problem to throw our resident cultists a bone here and there, be a little edgy to keep them on your good side, especially if it means shitting on someone who you personally think deserves it - after all biden's most definitely a creep. that does, however, not mean you're one of them - because i don't think you'd have a problem calling out trump for his much more disgusting behaviour. feel free to prove me wrong though.

you wrote "child molester" in quotes, a few posts after I and only I said child molester.

seemed like an odd thing to put in quotes if you weren't directly referring to me, who had said what you were quoting.

as to keeping them on my good side tho, i've known excellence and goomshill outside of pard for over 10 years. all of the rest of the "cultists" i generally snipe at as much as any other poster, endless, void, plasma, return, etc.

'child molester' is just one of the terms that, at least to my understanding, implies more than 'just' the creepy hair-sniffing, which really is bad enough on its own, and it's one of the things that actual cultists regularly say, while unironically having endorsed people like roy moore and donald trump, who did significantly worse things.

holy fuck... if shitty excuses could fly, you'd be an international airport. you might think that embracing your massive double standards was a great defence, but it really isn't.
the people who were calling biden a 'creep' (rightfully so) and even a 'child molester' for smelling ppl's heads are not saying 'DEMS can't support him because of THEIR standards', they are (again, justifiably) pointing out his creepy his behaviour. however, and that's the massive hypocrisy i'm criticising, they also act like the objectively much worse things that trump did are somehow completely irrelevant.

that said, what you appeasingly call the 'boys will be boys' party, officially labels itself the party of 'family values' and 'christian conservatism'. the 'boys will be boys / just locker room talk' excuse is only ever made to downplay trump's (a 73 year old 'boy') disgusting behaviour - when he speaks to bible huggers, he pretends to be one of them - and you can't tell me that every republican voter is simply too stupid to see who he really is. also, a grown ass man invading teenage girls dressing rooms and making comments about dating his daughter is pretty fucking disgusting, even IF you assume a 'boys will be boys' attitude.

Oh, there certainly is hypocrisy. You're just blowing it way out of proportion.

Most Trump voters disagree with the super high standard for male-female interaction that the left is pushing for in the #metoo era, and they relish rubbing it to the left/the Dems if it happens to bite them in their own arses.
The key notion behind this imho is not "see, we're morally equal", it is a "see, you're not as far better than us as you would like to believe".

You're right on the cognitive dissonance of members of the religious right supporting Trump. But I dont blame them tbh.

They've been losing the culture war for decades, and then this guy comes along who's super charmismatic and telegenic and hits all the right tones, holds all the right views on the issues, a guy who's more vigorously pushing back against the country's leftward lurch than any conservative candidate in a generation, who shows them new and unorthodox ways of winning presidential races - but the guy's personal life is a constant and gross violation of the values they hold dear. So what are they supposed to do? Back lame RINOs like Jeb Bush or Bill Weld who get crushed in the election, to then see President Hilary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren put the final nail in the coffin of anything remotely conservative - or put up with an imperfect instrument that's serving their cause despite all of his personal shortcomings?

it's not a 'super high standard for male-female interaction' to expect a grown man not to walk into teen girls dressing rooms with the intention of seeing them naked. it's not some unreasonable moral superiority to consider comments about dating your own daughter as messed up and inappropriate. stop being such a creepapologist.

You know, not everything is about Trump. This is about #metoo in general, about the Al Franken stuff and all of that. Conservatives think that the left is setting the bar too high, so when the Democratic front-runner for president clearly fails to clear this bar that his own "tribe" had set this high, conservatives are gloating. That Trump fails to meet even the pre-#metoo standards is a completely different story.
