As I was saying 15 pages earlier, the GOP is going to retaliate tit-for-tat for every escalatory measure by the democrats. As democrats weaponize inquiries more than benghazi, strip committee seats while butthurt over asinine complaints, etc, the Republicans already have ample fodder to work with and are very open and blunt about their plans to repay in kind. Inquiries into the origins of covid, the CDC response and what Fauci has said, inquiries into Hunter Biden and the ukraine money trail, inquiries into the Afghanistan withdrawal, inquiries into the IRS leaks, inquiries into Merrick Garland's parent-terror memo, etc etc

I don't think this is something the Democrats should fear. If there was wrongdoing by this administration, it should be punished. If there wasn't, then the Democrats will be fine. If you can win elections based on culture wars, then more power to you. I believe that we always get the government we deserve and if that's what the people want, that's what they should get.

IMO, this is obviously a ploy to create a false equivalence between the Trump administration and all other administrations. Hell, it would not surprise me if the GOP tried to impeach Biden on 3 different occasions just so he could hold the title of "most impeached President" away from Trump.

We just had 4 years of republicans in charge and with access to even more tools as their disposal than democrats have right now and they not only neglected to weaponize them, but made it policy even at their expense. As the opposition party in 2022 they're going to be itching to wield the senate as a bludgeon, and if they get the house, well impeachment is guaranteed. All these powers the democrats are wielding right now were available to Republicans who didn't similarly abuse them, but will be available to Republicans again in short order, and they are openly declaring their intention to start wielding them. Was it an empty threat when McConnell told Harry Reid that he'd regret going nuclear? Ask Gorsuch and Kavanaugh

They will probably re-segregate America after the ban abortion. They've already stacked the courts with people legislating religion. Wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.

At least I was able to score two PS5 bundles this weekend :)

Culture wars and inquisitions further divide Americans. These escalatory cycles might be largely toothless in formal impacts, but they do lead us even further into the shit swamp.

I agree that it's not good for the country but it's not like it's something new because we've had culture wars since we started colonizing America. At the end of the day though, the onus is on the American people to reject culture wars but that's not going to happen. Politicians run on the culture war because it gets them elected. Media stoke the flames of the war because it brings in revenue. People LIKE engaging in the culture war and viewing provocative media. It's simply a flaw in democratic nations but I think it's significantly better than the alternative.

Escalating culture wars and escalating partisanship hasn't exactly worked out for us, historically speaking

And as I said, they were blustering not blasting. They can shriek about benghazi until the cows come home, but as long as its just rhetoric who gives a shit. Not the same as if they sent storm troopers with battering rams to raid the Clinton estate in Marthas Vineyard in the dead of night and seize all her confidential files.

I want us to go as deep into the shit swamp as possible. These liberals are too stubborn to listen to anything but excruciating pain.
