I agree that it's not good for the country but it's not like it's something new because we've had culture wars since we started colonizing America. At the end of the day though, the onus is on the American people to reject culture wars but that's not going to happen. Politicians run on the culture war because it gets them elected. Media stoke the flames of the war because it brings in revenue. People LIKE engaging in the culture war and viewing provocative media. It's simply a flaw in democratic nations but I think it's significantly better than the alternative.
Escalating culture wars and escalating partisanship hasn't exactly worked out for us, historically speaking

And as I said, they were blustering not blasting. They can shriek about benghazi until the cows come home, but as long as its just rhetoric who gives a shit. Not the same as if they sent storm troopers with battering rams to raid the Clinton estate in Marthas Vineyard in the dead of night and seize all her confidential files.
