This thread is to discuss the day to day events of the Jan 6 committee which started today.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with how we got here, I'll give a brief summary.

1. Democrats and a small amount of Republicans wanted to create an unbiased 9/11 commission style committee
2. The majority of Republicans wanted BLM/Antifa riots to be within the scope of the committee
3. Pelosi strikes a deal with Rep Katko (R) to create an independent commission. This passes the House 252-175 with 35 Republicans joining the Democrats
4. The Senate fillibusters the legislation with only 6 Republicans joining the Democrats. The rationale is that the committee would be redundant since there are other committees and the DOJ investigating
5. Pelosi creates a Select Committee with subpoena power. She has the authority to veto picks. One of her choices is Liz Cheney (R).
6. McCarthy makes his picks and includes firebrands such as Jim Jordan (R)
7. Pelosi rejects the two most controversial picks (Banks and Jordan) so McCarthy withdraws all of his picks. Both of the moves are unprecedented.
8. Pelosi appoints Republican Adam Kinzinger. Both Kinzinger and Cheney are persona non grata within the Republican party.

Day 1: The committee has 4 officers testify about the events that occurred on Jan 6. The DOJ says that members of the executive branch who served under Trump will be allowed to testify. This includes Trump's cabinet.

Wondering how the ghouls on Fox News tonight are going to cover the officers' testimony....

The insurrectionists will be treated like the character Chip from the Dave Chappelle skit (White folk didn't know any better) . If it were antifa/BLM rioting, Fox would have went full civil war mode.

Same thing as 9/11. Some people did some things.

A mostly peaceful protest took place and the same people that told us Trump is for sure a Russian spy are saying this deserves the same treatment as 9/11.
