But okay, I'll admit that it is a theoretical possibility. Note that I am not arguing against the vaccines, getting jabbed definitely increases one's likelihood of having a mild or completely asymptomatic disease when catching Omicron (compared to an unvaxxed person).

It's just that I am of the opinion that public health experts, politicians and the media have to be honest and clearly communicate the fact that the efficacy of the current vaccines has gone down substantially against Omicron. Trying to argue otherwise would only undermine crucial trust and credibility.

The point is just that P(death or ICU | vaxxed) was very low to begin with, so even if this number holds or goes down further for Omicron, this should still not be able to match the reduction we get in P(death or ICU | unvaxxed) from dealing with a milder variant.
This is speculation on my part, obviously, but it could only be the other way round if the "mildness" of Omicron was tied specifically to the immune response induced by vaccines or prior infection, rather than coming from (the much more plausible) generically lower pathogenicity.

Imo the vaccine efficacy stuff is a complicated topic, and there are educated scientists (geert vanden bossche to name one) who cannot come to a consensus about the conclusions. Most ppl are not qualified to speak on the more technical details so its just constant agenda accusations or outright smearing academics on both sides.

maybe what bothers me the most is the cancel culture. if your not in line with the official narrative your just removed. that tells me they are lying and cant discourse. so we find these people on alt media and they make sense and they are never called out, just silenced, thats what fascists do.

I agree with you here. Normally there are of course bad actors in these situations who take advantage of the chaos to spew bs. However with all these fact check websites (the person doing the fact checking does not need to be qualified in doing it, usually just some journalist they hired) and increasing social media bans, it's definetly ironically a very right wing tactic that's being employed here.

With that being said, I do agree with atleast "house-keeping" moderation because one way or another peole have been impacted or know someone who has. My critique is probably more aboyr the disturbing reality that big tech has way too much influence abour who's allowed to talk.
