In Portugal, with 89% of the total population fully vaccinated, almost 90% of UCI Covid patients are unvaccinated.

Omicron is more dangerous than the vaccine. The omicron wave in NYC is spiking hospitalizations at a rate equivalent to the April 2020 surge.

And the reports are that hospitals are getting floods of asymptomatic cases and dumbasses requesting tests, while serious hospitalizations and deaths haven't gone up significantly.
Its hard to uncouple the effects of omicron from other covid variants floating around, but we know it swept through south africa with basically no deaths. In NYC, infections are setting a new record high every single day, 85,000 cases reported today compared to 15,000 at the height of last years spike- and yet NYC is reporting <40 "covid-related" deaths per day even though their reporting criterion is literally anyone who dies in NYC for any reason, if they had a positive case in the past 90 days. Their total death rate is below normal seasonal figures and remains so, even as infections spike astronomically.

Its clear from this data that Omicron is not killing people en masse. I expect that the report deaths on that chart will climb to a peak somewhat smaller than last winter, but it would be explained completely by the vast number of people testing positive even with no causal relationship to their death. If we reach 25%+ of the city testing positive, then 25%+ of all deaths of all causes would be counted on that death graph. But if the deaths were due to Omicron, they'd be spiking last week.

All the data coming in supports that Omicron has a negligible death rate. If the first few variants were 5x as deadly as the seasonal flu, Omicron might be 1/5th as deadly as the common cold

20% of population having a cold and eventually being unable to work is much more dangerous than vaccination...
You have to wait 2 weeks after Omicron became > ~80% of cases before jumping to conclusions on deaths and hospitalizations (btw you have to include helthcare & crippled for a while costs to your reasoning)

Despite being against the vaccinations, I would never take any pleasure in the death of a fellow human. Disgusting, and indicative of the nasty attitude of liberals in general.

Unable to work because.... of regulations. Not science, not logic. Shutting down the city over something more minor than a cold is an example of bad governance. And NYC is the case study in how completely, utterly ineffective the mask mandates, vaccine passports and other authoritarian measures are at stopping the spread. 85,000 reported cases despite all the freedoms being restricted already.

the narrative is cracking and the CDC decision to cut the quarantine time to 5 days without a test is the capitulation

it was a strictly political decision when places like new york had no subway operators anymore

we are at the "let it run, but lets somehow try to save face" stage

the pandemic is almost over, all measures still in place are not justifiable anymore

Don't be so EMO and wait next weeks. It's well know that without vaccines this covid story could have done a good 100 millions deads or more.

There will be no shutdown in NYC. Yet it's much more interesting to observe if the horrible chinese governement will be able to contain Omicron.

Anyone with even a little bit of critical thinking capability can see this ruse for what it is, but then again, a large majority of the population doesn't critically think. Hopefully it doesn't last much longer and we can get back to normal.

All this hatred against the unvaccinated despite the two variants delta and omicron coming from third world countries in remote areas, and the vaccine not even preventing transmission, and Fauci himself saying on live television that unvaccinated and vaccinated carry the same viral load, these people are hilarious for believing their vaccine somehow makes them more noble than those without it.
