so we finally see the point of bringing Floyd's brother is ... trying to argue that "hooping" refers to basketball.

Sorry, but there's no chance that's believable. No one uses that term in casual speech.

i hear it all of the time lol.

this reminds me of the Kavanaugh hearings when he said "boofing" meant farting, when it also means drug stuffs, and everyone laughed. but my dad called farting boofing my whole life.

Here's how the prosecution's plan looks to me:

They rolled out a bunch of "use of force experts" early on to see what Nelson's cross would look like. Then they take some time to process how that went. They save their heavy hitter for last. This allows them to tailor a line of questions that will preempt Nelson's inevitable cross attempts. This leaves their strongest impression as the most recent one in the jury's minds.

i'm reading most of your analysis as if you're assuming the prosecution is going for murder charges, but could be wrong.

in any case i dont think they expect murder charges at all, and are happy with manslaughter, and only charged murder 2 to appease the mob.

the manslaughter case makes itself more or less, the murder case has been all theatrics thusfar, little sticking. even the chief throwing him under the bus doesnt make murder 2 stick.

Seems this PD murdered another young black guy.

Are they going to be declared a terrorist organization or what?

hooping is almost definitely basketball.

but the context is that george floyd was trying to use basketball as an excuse for his mouth foam and drug overdose symptoms.

Chauvin was willing to plead to murder3 before the trial. Murder2 is the line of demarcation for this trial. If he ends up being acquitted of murder2, that will be viewed as a failure for the prosecution (and Nelson becomes a superstar overnight).

Letting the mob hear the jury announce NG on murder2 is the opposite of appeasing them. The moment those words are spoken would serve as an emotional springboard for the riots. The words 'not guilty' will sting in people's ears. If they wanted to appease the crowd, they would only want to create soundbites of the word 'guilty' being spoken.

the prosecution couldnt accept a plea deal, it would have caused riots by itself.

if murder 2 stuck they'd have celebration riots, murder 3 they have not enough justice riots, plea deal for murder 3 even worse riots.

this middle ground is the best they can hope for under the current climate. and not that they could have foresaw, but with another recent MPD shooting this is not looking good no matter what happens.

The prosecution can hope that the jury votes with the mob and throws the book at Chauvin.
