Romans 5:9 ESV
Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
What did Paul mean by this verse? Or do spiritists not believe Paul was divinely inspired?
It is good to look at the whole passage surrounding that verse to give it context.
In Romans 5:1 it says "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Then Romans 5:6 it says "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly."
Next Romans 5:8-10 says "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
So from what I can take out of these verses is that we have been justified by faith with God through Jesus Christ. Notice it does not say anything about good works. Jesus Christ died for us while we were still sinners and he died for the ungodly. God has shown us his love in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So now that we have been justified by his blood, how much more are we saved from the wrath of God? When we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his son, now that we are reconciled how much more are we saved by his life?
The book of Romans makes it clear that "for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
It also teaches us about the consequences of sin "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23
