I would say that most reasonable people agree that Sondland's testimony will guarantee an impeachment will happen.

Wow, interesting revelation from Cooper. Day of the call the Ukraines started asking about the hold of aid.

In the house, yes. In the Senate, no.

Btw - I really wonder what internal GOP thoughts are about Nunes as the ranking member. He hasn't provided any value to them IMO

He's suing a fake cow on Twitter.

Let me say it again, the (former chairman) and ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee is suing a fake cow on Twitter.

Do we need any more evidence that the Republican party is no longer a serious institution?

Hurt. There is enough damning evidence for misconduct by Trump to hurt his standing with independents and moderates, even if it was perhaps not serious enough to justify removing an elected president from office.
And as 2018 has shown, if both sides have huge turnout, Trump's base alone isnt enough - he needs those independents and moderates to at the very least not break heavily for Democrats.

Another aspect is that the glaring dilettantism he has exhibited in the Ukraine/Burisma case might cause some Republicans donors to sour on him. They might decide that they would rather take a Dem winning in 2020 and getting another shot in 2024 with a more reliable and savvy conservative at the top of the ticket than another 4 years of Trump. So I could see at least some donors abandoning him and sitting the 2020 presidential race out (focusing their money on the senate races instead) if too much weakness/incompetence on this meta-level is exposed.

GOP put up a savvy conservative after abandoning Trump lmao

Someone like paul ryno can finally lose as head of the ticket in that scenario

Thinking about it, it seems not thaaaat unlikely to me that more than 3 Republican Senators break with Trump and vote to convict, so that a majority of the Senate votes in favor of removing him from office, and he only hangs in there because they fell short of the required 2/3rds majority. Such a scenario would look really fucking bad for Trump imho.

I actually disagree to an extent.

The flip side of it going to the Senate for impeachment is, the Senate can also subpoena additional person's, such as Hunter Biden. That could actually help the Trump campaign.

Nah, those guys are not idiots. In a certain sense, "Trump has shown them the way" and they will continue to include some populism and nationalism into their messaging. Just that they will pick RINO candidates who only use this rhetoric to steal votes and who, unlike Trump, never had any intention of following up on this part of their campaign promises.

Agree about Romney,I think yet that it will be damaging for president and/or senators, but not that much.
It will pass to Senate but Republicans also have the choice to delay the vote, like Brexit...
