the best response i can think of is to provide this: https://www.justsecurity.org/80921/still-at-war-the-united-states-in-somalia/

i.e. America is (and i quote) taking action “in furtherance of U.S. national self-defense” interests. There are quite alot of things done under this umbrella ok, including actions in Ukraine (and syria).

an alternative response would be either:

"but they are not democratically elected" or "they are not aligned with our interests".

also to be clear, when i say america, i mean american foreign policy as carried out by its successive governments. just to be precise.

I posted this video before and I am not sure if you have watched it.
It was very clear in the explanation as to why.

You guys who dislike America tell me something.
USA forces were in Afganistan, and it was a liberal country when they were there, when people, including women, had rights and were more or less equal.
USA left, and what has it become?
Women have to wear bhurkas, stay at home, banned from higher education and need to ask their male family member for approval before they do anything.
Of course I totally understand USA had to move out, it was too much cost for american taxpayers and Afgan people werent involved enough to resist taliban assault, but still its sad that the liberation plan for Afganistan citizens didnt work and when Americans left, they are back in the middle ages under taliban occupation :(
Americans arent perfect, yet they bring freedom and liberalism, you cant compare that with Russia, who bring totalitarism, enslavement and powerty.

Did they ask for this kind of freedom? What if someone will rid your country from such a relic of the past as catholicism and force you to talk Chinese since there're billions of Chinese speakers and you are a minority. If you try to rebel they will flatten your cities with hypersound missiles "肛门启示录 2".
