Wait a second, shouldnt you, as a self-avowed conservative, have a clear preference for the candidate who will implement less left-leaning policies once in office, i.e. Biden?
I would understand your argument if you gave Warren a 80% chance at ousting Trump and Biden only a 20% chance at getting it done. But at 50:50, I dont get why you dont have a clear preference for Biden.
In any case, you just confessed to be the mirror image of the "I dont care about his personal shortcomings because I like the judges and the tax cuts"-crowd.
I haven't identified as a "conservative" in years. I'm fiscally conservative(going by my definition of reducing the deficit) and socially conservative. I'm a right-leaning moderate who can look at history and realize a Democrat executive governs the country better.
Well, if you said to me Warren or Biden would actually have the power to implement their agenda in a significant way, I might have a stronger preference. But the reality is that whichever gets elected, they almost certainly won't control the Senate, and even if they did, it would be one or two major pieces of legislation at best before they got destroyed in 2022. Change moves slowly in our system. And I consider Trump such a disaster for this country that any sane person elected would make me happy. If it's a 50% chance for both Biden and Warren, I'm favoring Biden. But if it's 50% Warren and 40% Biden, I'm going Warren.
Plus, a Warren presidency would provoke a reaction from the Republican party that pushed it more towards fiscal conservatism. Trump campaigned on not cutting entitlements... that won't be possible after a few years of a Warren presidency.
